In a retrospective review of a national database, the authors examined the association between treatment with hyperbaric oxygen for carbon monoxide poisoning and mortality. The study was based on Taiwanese records of carbon monoxide poisoning entered into a national database between 1999 and 2012. The authors used multivariable modeling to control for possible confounding variables including age, sex, income, comorbidities, poisoning for attempted suicide, drug use, acute respiratory failure, and follow-up length (range, <2 months to 4 years).
