The use of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) to perform liver biopsy is not novel and, despite its appeal, has been slow to gain clinical traction. In the current study, researchers retrospectively evaluated outcomes in 165 consecutive patients who underwent EUS-guided liver biopsy after an EUS exam looking for causes of liver test abnormalities was unrevealing (i.e., no stones were seen in the bile ducts). All procedures were conducted by one of three advanced endoscopists using a 19-gauge core needle and a single-pass technique.
