Repetitive impacts to the head involve exposure to concussive and subconcussive events. These impacts, if of sufficient intensity, can produce clinical symptoms that can resolve within days, months, or even years. Occurrence of multiple concussive head injuries has been associated with progressive neurodegenerative disease later in life.
