Among the multiple mechanisms proposed for continued stimulation of the androgen receptor (AR) in castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) is the abnormal AR splice variant AR-V7, which remains constitutively active regardless of the presence or absence of the ligand and appears to drive disease progression.
