Obinutuzumab is a type 2 anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody that has shown activity against follicular lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia when combined with chemotherapy (NEJM JW Oncol Hematol Feb 2017).
To test the drug's effectiveness in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), investigators conducted an industry-supported, multicenter, randomized phase III trial comparing obinutuzumab plus CHOP (cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone) versus standard rituximab plus CHOP in 1418 patients with treatment-naive, advance-stage disease.
