The use of CDK inhibitors (palbociclib, ribociclib, abemaciclib) for patients with metastatic ER-positive breast cancer has been shown to prolong time to disease progression. Currently, several large randomized clinical trials have been initiated to assess the role of CDK inhibitors in the adjuvant setting for patients with early-stage ER-positive disease, but the results of these trials won't be known for several years.
