Standard front-line therapy for younger, medically fit patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) includes immunochemotherapy followed by consolidative autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). However, most MCL patients who achieve remission with front-line treatment relapse within 5 years.
To assess the role of maintenance immunotherapy in this setting, investigators conducted an industry-sponsored, multicenter, prospective, randomized, phase III trial involving 240 MCL patients who achieved remission following ASCT. Patients received induction therapy R-DHAP (rituximab, dexamethasone, high-dose cytarabine, and a platinum agent) followed by stem cell collection, conditioning therapy with R-BEAM (rituximab, carmustine, etoposide, cytarabin…
