Ixazomib for Relapsed Myeloma

Adding the proteasome inhibitor ixazomib to lenalidomide and dexamethasone improves outcomes for patients, regardless of their cytogenetic-risk status.

A prior industry-supported, international, randomized, controlled, phase III trial (TOURMALINE-MM1) showed that adding the oral proteasome inhibitor ixazomib to oral lenalidomide and dexamethasone significantly improved progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with relapsed or refractory myeloma (NEJM JW Oncol Hematol Jul 2016 and N Engl J Med 2016; 374:1621).

Now, the investigators have conducted a preplanned subgroup analysis of 552 TOURMALINE-MM1 study participants who had cytogenetic data available to assess response rates according to cytogenetic-risk status.
