A recent report of cold snare resection after submucosal injection (cold EMR) of large sessile serrated polyps (SSPs) found the technique to be safe and effective. In the current study, researchers examined the feasibility and safety of piecemeal resection of large SSPs without submucosal injection. Seven expert endoscopists performed the procedures using a 10-mm thin-wire snare. An effort was made to resect a margin of normal tissue at least several mm wide.
Among 34 patients, there were 41 resected lesions with a median size of 15 mm (range, 10–35 mm). The median procedure duration was 4.5 minutes. There were no complications. The first follow-up of 15 lesions at 6 months showed no recurrence.
