A prior phase II study showed that in Asian patients with advanced gastric cancer that progressed after first-line chemotherapy, overall survival was improved with second-line therapy that combined the PARP inhibitor olaparib with paclitaxel (NEJM JW Oncol Hematol Nov 2015 and J Clin Oncol 2015; 33:3858). The study also indicated that the benefit was greater in patients who had tumors with low immunohistochemistry staining for the ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM) protein.
