Guidelines recommend supplemental breast MRI in addition to screening mammography for women with >20% excess lifetime risk for breast cancer. However, for women with personal histories of breast cancer (PHBC), only annual mammography is recommended, and evidence is sparse regarding appropriate use of MRI for breast cancer surveillance; still, many breast cancer survivors undergo this imaging.
