Many factors correlate with polyp detection during colonoscopy, including bowel preparation quality, withdrawal time, examination technique, and a variety of endoscopic techniques and devices. One of the interesting correlates is visual gaze pattern, which refers to where on the screen the endoscopist is looking.
In a study of 18 endoscopists, including novices and experienced endoscopists, researchers studied visual gaze patterns using eye-tracking glasses during the first 2 minutes of colonoscope withdrawal.
