Immunotherapies, such as monoclonal immune checkpoint inhibitors, have been implicated in the development of clinically significant drug-induced liver injury. In the current study, researchers evaluated the clinical courses of histologically proven immune-related hepatitis identified in 16 patients receiving monoclonal checkpoint inhibitors (anti-PD-1/PD-L1 in 9 patients and anti-CTLA-4 therapy alone or in combination with anti-PD-1 therapy in 7 patients). The time between therapy initiation and hepatitis development was 5 weeks and occurred after a median of 2 doses of treatment. All patients discontinued therapy.
