To provide more robust and up-to-date information on sexting among adolescents, investigators conducted a systemic review and meta-analysis of studies from 1990 to 2016 that reported the prevalence of sexting explicit images, videos, or messages. The authors identified 39 studies (10 moderate quality, 29 high quality) that included 110,000 adolescents (age range, 12–17 years; 47% male). Of these studies, 22 were from the U.S., 12 from Europe, and the rest from Canada, Australia, South Africa, and South Korea.
