His-bundle pacing (HBP) has emerged as an alternative means of pacing the ventricles. In this procedure, the right ventricular (RV) lead is placed at the bundle of His, allowing for physiologic depolarization of the ventricles via the His–Purkinje system. HBP may help prevent adverse remodeling in patients with heart block and might even provide benefits similar to those of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) pacing.
