A variety of online services allow patients to rate their clinicians with numerical scores and complimentary or critical comments on services provided. Little research has been conducted on how well these reviews correlate with other measures of patient satisfaction.
During a 3-month period in 2014, researchers examined the reviews of all medical providers working at a single Midwestern U.S. hospital. A total of 113 of 2048 providers had at least one negative online review, including 98 physicians with Press Ganey satisfaction scores available for the same period.
