In a retrospective registry study, investigators analyzed the incidence, predictors, and prognosis of thrombus formation on two devices for left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) at eight French centers between 2012 and 2017. The study included 487 consecutive patients (mean age, 75; 61% men); 469 successfully received LAAO devices.
Medications at discharge included oral anticoagulation (OAC) in only 34% of patients; 59% received antiplatelet agents without OAC, and <8% received none. At a mean follow-up of 13 months, imaging with transesophageal echocardiography or computed tomography was performed in 339 patients (72%).
