Validity of the Seattle Angina Questionnaire in Women: Confirmed

Despite having been used for years to evaluate chest pain, this instrument had never previously received full confirmation of its validity in women.

The Seattle Angina Questionnaire (SAQ) was originally developed in a predominately male population and was never specifically validated in women. Still, through the years, it has been used extensively in both men and women. These authors, including the SAQ copyright owner, compared its performance in 8440 men and 3952 women with ischemic heart disease.

Study data were derived from two multicenter trials and five registries.
