Previous meta-analyses have found that Endocuff produces an average increase in the adenoma detection rate (ADR) of about 7%. An important issue is whether the benefit from Endocuff occurs primarily in high versus low detectors or occurs across the board.
In a new meta-analysis, researchers identified 12 randomized trials of Endocuff versus control colonoscopy involving over 8300 patients. Overall, Endocuff increased the ADR from 34% to 41%. Interestingly, no benefit in detection with Endocuff use was seen for doctors with high ADRs (>45%; relative risk, 1.0), but a significant benefit was observed for doctors with low-to-moderate unassisted ADRs (<35%; relative risk, 1.5).
