Has the increasing use of marijuana for disorders involving emotional recall such as post-traumatic stress disorder been adequately studied? These researchers tested recall of previously learned material in 23 healthy people aged 18 to 29 with and without tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a primary cannabis component.
During an encoding session, participants viewed and rated the degree of arousal from different emotionally negative, neutral, and positive phrases, half of which were followed by a corresponding picture. They then learned lists of words, which they rated as pleasant or unpleasant.
