Elective oocyte cryopreservation (EOC) is increasing among women seeking to “prevent” future infertility. Investigators at a single academic practice used a decision regret scale (DRS; range, 0–100) to determine the extent to which 201 survey respondents undergoing EOC between 2012 and 2016 (mean age, 36) regretted their decision and the factors associated with such regret. DRS scores >25 indicated moderate-to-severe regret.
Although median DRS score was 0 (indicating no regret) and mean was 10, 16% of respondents experienced moderate-to-severe regret and 50% reported some regret.
