Current treatment options for refractory gastroparesis are limited and largely ineffective. Gastric peroral endoscopic myotomy (G-POEM), a recently described endoscopic technique of tunneling under the gastric mucosa and incising the pyloric muscle, has shown promise in retrospective studies.
In a prospective trial of G-POEM for refractory moderate-to-severe gastroparesis, 110 patients were evaluated and 20 were included. Etiologies were diabetes in 10 patients and nondiabetes in the other 10.
