Fecal tests are primary noninvasive modalities for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. The fecal immunochemical test (FIT) has been shown to have higher sensitivity and better convenience and participation rates than the older guaiac-based fecal occult blood test (gFOBT); however, gFOBT is still used in various settings. Interval CRC (iCRC), defined as CRC diagnosed after a negative screening test and before the next recommended screening test, strongly reflects the quality of screening programs.
