While immune-based therapies have revolutionized the management of solid tumors, successful immunotherapy for glioblastoma has remained elusive. The recombinant polio-rhinovirus chimera (PVSRIPO) is a novel live-attenuated neurotropic oncolytic vaccine with selective neurovirulence against glioma. Investigators report results of a first-in-human, phase 1 dose-finding study of a one-time, intratumorally delivered PVSRIPO. Participants were 61 patients with histopathologically confirmed recurrent glioblastoma and measurable disease, followed for a median of 27.6 months.
