Recent pilot studies demonstrated cure of donor-derived hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in seronegative recipients of HCV-infected donors (THINKER; N Engl J Med 2017; 376:2394 and Ann Intern Med 2018; 168:533).
Now, investigators provide longer-term (12-month) follow-up data on 10 recipients described in the initial THINKER cohort as well as 6-month follow-up data on 10 additional recipients. The primary outcome was HCV cure. Mental and physical quality of life (QOL) scores were also measured, and a matched case control design was used to assess renal outcomes.
