Suppurative intracranial infections are devastating conditions that previously carried high mortality and long-term disability. Unfortunately, there is little evidence to guide diagnostic procedures and therapeutic decisions because these conditions are rare and their courses variable. To provide more information on current treatment strategies and outcomes, researchers retrospectively reviewed data on 113 patients with subdural empyema or brain abscess treated in two referral centers between January 2010 and September 2016.
