Etonogestrel contraceptive implant users may experience unscheduled uterine bleeding that leads to method discontinuation. In a trial involving 63 implant users (age range, 18–45) who reported >1 bleeding episode within 24 days, participants were randomized to 15-mg ulipristal acetate or placebo daily for 7 days; all women kept bleeding records for 30 days. Interim analysis indicated that the study had achieved sufficient power to detect a 30% reduction in bleeding days.
