Developing effective behavioral interventions to modify the risk for recurrent stroke, particularly in racial/ethnic minority populations, remains a challenge. Secondary prevention efforts that have focused on improving education about risk have had mixed results. Culturally tailored interventions that also address self-efficacy by developing specific skills and risk-reduction action steps may be more effective.
