Although statins are the cornerstone for the secondary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), determining statin eligibility in primary prevention remains controversial, with 10-year risk assessments possibly failing to identify young individuals with elevated LDL levels who would benefit from statins.
