Good sleep is clearly linked to health and well-being, but the importance of uninterrupted sleep for infants and their parents is unclear. Should pediatricians encourage parents to get their babies sleeping through the night as early as possible?
Researchers used data from 388 mother-child dyads in a Canadian longitudinal birth cohort study to compare developmental outcomes, maternal mood, and feeding method between infants who slept through the night (using 2 thresholds: 6 hours and 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep) and those who did not.
