Colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence and mortality have been decreasing overall in the United States, but opposite trends are observed in adults younger than 50. Black people are more vulnerable to CRC, with higher rates and worse outcomes than white people. However, the effect of race on young-onset CRC incidence and mortality is not well described.
Using U.S. cancer registry data, researchers compared CRC incidence (per 100,000) in persons aged 20 to 49 years between 1992–96 and 2010–14 and assessed rates by race (black vs. white), anatomic location, and stage.
