It remains unclear if original-molecule anti–tumor necrosis factor (TNF) agents for treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) afford any efficacy or safety benefit compared with available biosimilars. A natural experiment was made possible in Hungary when the government changed its reimbursement policy in September 2017 to cover only Remicade versus the biosimilar CT-P13. Investigators prospectively followed unselected, consecutive patients who were switched from CT-P13 to Remicade during maintenance therapy and assessed clinical outcomes at the switch and 16 and 24 weeks later.
