Nontraumatic shoulder pain due to subacromial pain syndrome (SAPS), shoulder impingement, or rotator cuff disease that persists beyond 3 months is associated with poorer long-term recovery and disability. Nonoperative treatments for SAPS include oral analgesics, physical therapy, and corticosteroid injections.
