In the PROMISE trial (NEJM JW Gen Med Apr 15 2015 and N Engl J Med 2015; 372:1291), researchers randomized stable outpatients with symptoms suggestive of ischemia to initial evaluation with coronary computed tomographic angiography (CTA) or functional stress testing.
