Treatment as prevention and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) are effective tools for HIV prevention. In the U.S., use of these interventions is low in many at-risk populations, including African Americans, Hispanics, and particularly persons within corrections systems. Further, these interventions don't directly affect risk for other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or comorbidities (e.g., drug abuse).
