The introduction of new effective technologies calls for efforts to ensure equitable access to them. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has been shown to improve outcomes of patients with aortic stenosis, but little is known about whether it is available to all patients. Investigators used the Society of Thoracic Surgeons/American College of Cardiology TVT Registry to determine the racial/ethnic makeup of TAVR patients in the U.S. and to explore the association between race and outcomes.
