As there is no licensed pharmacologic therapy for the treatment of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), clinical guidelines recommend counseling patients to lose weight through modifying diet and exercise. However, guidelines fall short of recommending any specific weight loss intervention.
In the current systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized, controlled trial data, researchers assessed the impact of weight loss interventions on biomarkers (laboratory, radiologic, and histologic) of liver disease.
