The current opioid epidemic has changed the way many providers prescribe pain medications, even for patients with verifiable painful conditions. However, it remains unclear whether race and ethnicity are associated with differences in opioid prescriptions.
To test this association in emergency department (ED) patients with long bone fractures, researchers performed a cross-sectional cohort study using electronic records from a large integrated health care system in California.
