A multidisciplinary committee conducted a systematic literature review and developed evidence-based recommendations on diagnosis and management of patients with gastric intestinal metaplasia (GIM), atrophic gastritis (AG), gastric dysplasia, or early adenocarcinoma.
Diagnosis
In patients with AG or GIM, perform a full systematic endoscopic stomach examination (for a minimum of 7 minutes) with clear photographic documentation of gastric regions and any pathology.
For highest accuracy in diagnosis of GIM, AG, and early neoplastic lesions, use high-definition endoscopy with image-enhanced endoscopy (IEE) and magnification endoscopy (if available…
