Outcomes were superior with nab-paclitaxel versus sb-paclitaxel.
The prior GeparSepto trial showed that for patients with primary breast cancer, pathologic complete remission rates were improved with neoadjuvant nanoparticle albumin-bound (nab)-paclitaxel compared with solvent-based (sb)-paclitaxel, both followed by epirubicin plus cyclophosphamide and surgery (Lancet Oncol 2016; 17:345). Now, investigators report the secondary outcomes of the GeparSepto study, including invasive DFS (iDFS), overall survival (OS), and long-term resolution of treatment-related peripheral sensory neuropathy.
A total of 1206 patients were randomized to 12 weeks of weekly nab-paclitaxel (150 mg/m2, amended to 125 mg/m2) or sb-paclitaxel (80 mg/m2), each followed by four cycles of epirubicin and cyclophosphamide, then surgery.…
