Preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a key strategy for the prevention of HIV infection for at-risk gay/bisexual men (GBM), who remain the largest at-risk population in the U.S. Although data from some high-profile, large U.S. cities have shown encouraging progress in decreasing HIV infection, less is known about use of PrEP for the U.S. overall, where overall rates of new HIV infections among GBM have remained comparatively constant. For this study, investigators used probability data from the Ipsos KnowledgePanel, which includes 50,000 adult members (from 45 states and Washington, D.C.), of whom 900 identified as GBM. Of the GBM members, 502 responded to a survey assessing HIV behaviors conducted between June and July, 2018.
