Accurate scales to predict psychosis are needed. Predictive models and scales exist but are for clinically high-risk individuals and are somewhat complicated, requiring experienced clinicians' interviews (NEJM JW Psychiatry Sep 2018 and Psychol Med 2019; 49:1128). A polygenetic risk score for schizophrenia, recently calculated from a genome-wide association study of schizophrenia, could account for only 7% of the variance in the vulnerability for disease. The authors in this study reviewed meta-analyses of large-scale studies to identify the most well-replicated and validated environmental risk factors for psychosis.
