The Endocuff Vision distal attachment device is used to facilitate mucosal exposure during colonoscopy and improves procedure efficiency and polyp detection for certain endoscopists. However, its effect on polypectomy time is unknown.
In this single-center trial, researchers randomized 250 patients to Endocuff-assisted or standard colonoscopy and measured the duration of polypectomy for 357 polyps. The results were as follows:
The median polypectomy time was significantly shorter in the Endocuff-assisted group (54 vs. 80 seconds).
Polypectomy time shortening with Endocuff was statistically significant for polyps 6 to 9 mm (53 vs. 108 seconds) and polyps ≥10 mm (141 vs. 250 seconds) but not polyps ≤5 mm (42 vs. 59 seconds).
