The major trials that demonstrated the value of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for patients with acute ischemic stroke were all conducted in adults. Although much less common, potentially disabling strokes can also occur in children. These strokes have various mechanisms, including cardioembolism, arteriopathies, and cryptogenic events. Because data are sparse on outcomes of EVT in children with stroke, researchers conducted a review of children <18 years who were treated with EVT for acute ischemic stroke at 27 centers.
