MicroRNAs (miRNA) are small endogenous noncoding RNAs that are involved in carcinogenesis. Altered and measurable miRNA patterns have been described for colorectal cancer (CRC) and precursor lesions, leading to the hypothesis that miRNAs could be used as biomarkers for advanced colorectal neoplasia (CRC and advanced adenomas).
