An analysis by the CDC of 2017 data suggests that 37,500 new HIV infections occurred that year, a number that has remained stable since 2013; 62.7% of people who knew their HIV status were virally suppressed, and only 18.1% of those with PrEP indications had been prescribed PrEP.
The goals of the Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America initiative are:
Reducing new infections by at least 90% by 2030
95% of persons living with HIV diagnosed
95% of those diagnosed virally suppressed
50% of persons with PrEP indications being on PrEP
