Patients with Parkinson disease (PD) commonly have an “on” dopaminergic state during which many motor symptoms are suppressed and an “off” state when PD symptoms re-emerge. This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter, manufacturer-sponsored study was conducted to test the treatment of “off” episodes with apomorphine sublingual film (a formulation not currently approved by the FDA). Participants had to have ≥2 hours of “off” time per day with predictable morning “off” periods had to be responsive to levodopa and stabilized on antiparkinsonian medication.
