For patients undergoing endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke, practices vary regarding anesthesia during the procedure. Some centers prefer local anesthesia (LA) at the puncture site only, others prefer conscious sedation (CS), and still other centers rely on general anesthesia (GA). Previous studies have raised concerns that GA is associated with worse outcomes than CS, perhaps due to blood pressure drop with the use of GA. However, this is controversial.
