Meta-analysis results add to mounting evidence showing no association.
Proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) are highly effective in the treatment of acid-related disorders, yet they are associated with small increased risks for many different conditions including dementia in some observational studies. In the current systematic review and meta-analysis of data from 11 observational studies involving 159,000 PPI users and 484,000 controls, results show no increased risk for dementia among PPI users.
