Creatine, a nutrient that derives primarily from meats, poultry, and seafood and that plays a critical role in brain bioenergetics, has sparked attention as a potential antidepressant (NEJM JW Psychiatry Oct 2012 and Am J Psychiatry 2012; 169:937).
